Starting of CFE@CFD 2013 and some FAQs help get your ready…

March 18, 2013

Summer is right around the corner and as we look forward to our 2013 goals we wanted to remind you to consider finding an endurance goal for 2013. There are a variety of events in the Chicago area, and beyond, that might strike you. Whether it is a marathon, 10k, 5k, triathlon, Tough Mudder or just to improve your running form having goals help focus your training and keep you accountable. If you not sure of a goal contact me anytime at mark@crossfitdefined.com. We’ll help you find something that is right for you.

Soon, our endurance training will head back outside and running will once again be our focus. This year, CFE@CFD will be tailoring the endurance programing towards the Chicago Marathon, that simply means that the Rx workouts will be lined up with the timing of the marathon. We’re always ready to help you reach any endurance goal. Remember all Crossfit workouts, including endurance are scalable to meet your specific goals.

If you’re interested in learning more about how Crossfit Defined’s endurance program can help you train for your special event contact Coach Mark at mark@crossfitdefined.com with questions.

FAQs about Crossfit Defined’s endurance program:

How is this different than the existing Thursday and Saturday CFE classes?
CrossFit Endurance is an endurance sports training program dedicated to improving performance, fitness and endurance sports potential. This program will coach and provide you with group workouts that are scaled to help you reach your endurance goals. As we get closer to running season, you will see scheduled programing each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday that are designed for endurance events. This programming will take the place of the Thursday CFE class, but the Saturday morning classes will continue to circuit style endurance workouts.

Will I be doing WODs at CFE or just long runs?
Absolutely, and they will be challenging and fun. Just like when you show up to CFD, there will be skill work and WODs. As an example, Tuesdays and Thursdays will generally include intervals while Sundays will likely include a longer tempo training.

Where will CFE @ CFD meet?
Sometimes we will meet at the box, but primarily we will me at a variety of locations along the lakefront. As soon as we are comfortable with the weather, we’ll post the locations on Sunday evenings on the Crossfit Defined Endurance Program webpage. If there are schedule or location changes, we’ll post those on facebook as soon as we can.

How will the training be scaled based on different endurance events/distances?
Each WOD will be scaled and we will work together based on your goals to make sure you’re scaling to the right version of each workout.

Are we planning any events to complete as a team?
You bet! As the programming gets going in the Spring we’ll decide as a group on some local events. Our main training goal will be the Chicago Marathon in October. The overall focus of the programming will be in preparation for that event. However, anyone regardless of their endurance event or goal will fit right in to any workout.
